Pilates Cross Training for Athletes and Dancers

Professional athletes and dancers and serious enthusiasts alike can benefit from Pilates cross training. Pilates helps improve performance and prevent injury by increasing muscle strength and activation time, building core strength and joint stability, improving flexibility, and creating greater body awareness.

During your initial assessment, performance goals, injuries, and your current training regimen will be discussed. Performance video, if available, will be reviewed for future sessions. An individual program incorporating exercises which target the physical demands of your discipline will then be developed. Muscular and postural imbalances will be addressed to help you fine tune your performance and create a stronger, balanced, more efficient body.

“I started working with Ann when I was recovering from a sacral stress fracture:  I was 8 months postpartum, still struggling to rebuild my core strength and pelvic stability.  Before we even had our first meeting, Ann impressed me with her research and preparation.  When we met, she continued to impress me with her ability to spot imbalances and then help me correct them.  Ann has a keen eye for detail and I could tell that she was really taking time to consider my injury/needs.  Unlike other practitioners, who seem to have one routine they use for everyone, Ann’s classes are fully customized to meet the needs of her clients.  After an injury, there is usually a lot of muscular dysfunction.  We started out by activating latent muscles and reestablishing correct movement patterns, basically relaying my foundation.  As my mechanics improve, Ann has continued to adapt and challenge me, so that now, we are able to work on ways to help me excel as an Olympic level athlete.  I am so grateful to have Ann as a part of my “team,” and I cannot recommend her highly enough!”
